Flagler County flash flood warning briefly active as Central Florida storms continue

Northeastern Flagler County, including Palm Coast, was under a National Weather Service Flash Flood Warning Saturday afternoon after heavy thunderstorms. WFTV reported the warning was in effect until 5:00 p.m. EDT, with Doppler radar estimates of 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain already fallen in the warned area and another inch possible while the warning was active. Flash flooding was expected or likely occurring during that window.

At 4:38 p.m. EDT Saturday, NWS Jacksonville cancelled the Flash Flood Warning for northeastern Flagler County, stating the heavy rain had ended and flooding was no longer expected to pose a threat, while advising residents to continue heeding any remaining road closures. WFTV also noted that additional strong storms with heavy rain remain possible across Central Florida through the mid-evening hours.

For the broader Atlantic basin, the National Hurricane Center’s 2:00 p.m. EDT Saturday Tropical Weather Outlook stated that tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next seven days across the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of America.
