The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for Bay County until 10 AM ET Sunday after radar showed thunderstorms dropping 3 to 7 inches of rain. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected in Panama City, Lynn Haven, Springfield, Hiland Park, Vicksburg, Southport, Dirego Park and Cedar Grove.
Flood Watches run from 10 AM Sunday through 3 PM Monday for Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. NWS Melbourne says the ground is nearly saturated, especially along the Treasure Coast. It forecasts widespread totals of 1 to 3 inches, with local amounts of 5 inches or more that could cause flash flooding. NWS Miami warns of street flooding, road closures and limited impacts to structures in flood-prone areas.
If water gets into your home or business, keep safety first, photograph the damage, and start drying out quickly. The EPA says drying wet materials within 24 to 48 hours helps prevent mold. Water that wicks into drywall, flooring and cabinets can stay hidden after the surface looks dry.
