Front to Stall Near South Florida This Weekend, Bringing More Rain and Wind; Upper Keys See Minor Saltwater Flooding
NWS Miami expects higher rain chances and windier conditions as a front stalls near South Florida this weekend, while NWS Key West has a Coastal Flood Statement for the Upper Keys through late tonight.
NWS Miami says a front is forecast to approach and stall near South Florida this weekend, bringing higher rain chances and windier conditions. On Thursday, scattered showers and storms were expected to develop and move from east to west, with the most widespread activity in Southwest Florida during the afternoon and evening. CBS Miami reported the main heavy rain and flood threat arriving over the weekend.
In the Keys, NWS Key West extended a Coastal Flood Statement for the Upper Florida Keys through late Thursday night. It warns that minor saltwater flooding of low streets and lots is likely, some storm drains will overflow, and some seawalls and docks will be overtopped. NWS reminds drivers not to drive through flooded roads.
The National Hurricane Center expects no tropical cyclone formation in the Atlantic over the next seven days.
Repeated heavy rain is when small roof and window leaks turn into wet drywall and flooring. If water gets into your home or business, Florida Restoration Specialists does water extraction and drying in Lakeland and across Polk County. Call (863) 588-6617.
